Winter wonderland!

So it is pretty crisp here today -15 Celsius I think.  The hoar frost is very pretty though..

This is about 2 minutes from my home in the city...  looks so peaceful.

I had a photo challenge from a friend & the subject was "up".
We are having pretty dreary weather - the light was very flat, but I wandered around downtown (which was really busy for a Sunday) & took a couple of shots..  pretty boring compared to shooting live subjects!

More Doggies

Well I am really slipping - a photo every day doesn't seem possible...  I'm also doing another photography challenge with some friends, plus life does seem to get in the way.

Here is a photo I took of 2 of my dogs enjoying the sunshine..  We are in Canada, close to the Rocky Mountains but we are having unseasonably warm weather... not that I'm complaining!  Nice to go out with a sweater at the end of January!

Dog Trial Weekend

Such a big doggie weekend!
I competed in a Rally trial on Friday with my little papillon & earned a 95/100 and a big ribbon!
Then we did Agility & Scent Hurdle on Sat & Sunday.  Of course I didn't take any photos of my own dogs, but I did get  couple of shots of some friend's dogs!

TimBits Hockey!

I went to watch my grandson playing in a hockey tournament yesterday.  These are 5 and 6 year olds...  it's fun to watch them be so excited to get out there - even in a couple of weeks they improve so much.  It was actually a tournament in honor of a little boy who had been part of the organization,  who was murdered last year along with his grandparents, very sad story...

Getting a good photo in a hockey rink with dirty glass is a bit of a challenge to say the least!

"Light"

I'm doing a short photography challenge with some friends this week & the theme for yesterday was "light"..  It was a dreary, cold day again so I couldn't get inspired by any nice sunshine shots so I decided to play with a candle...  this is what I came up with..

A Quickie

Ok the weather warmed up 20 degrees today but will go back down about the same tomorrow... such a crazy place we live!  (Calgary, Canada - close to the Rocky Mountains)
So we did get a chance to get outside..  this photo is a quick shot I took of Ditto playing in the snow - actually just a shot of her head... kind of weird but I like it..

OK, I missed a day...  it is so miserable outside here right now - very cold & snowing, the roads are very icy, so it's hard to get excited about going out to take photos.
 I wanted to stretch myself a little & photograph something other than my dogs, cute as they may be...
so I decided on this cute Mexican doll that a friend sent me... enjoy!

I'm so excited!  Just picked up my painting of Bizzie Bee that my artist friend, Sue did for me.
I think it is extraordinary!   I couldn't wait to share it!

It was also my granddaughter's birthday party today but I find getting good photos of the kids while they are constantly moving & the light is changing so difficult, so not posting any of the photos I took....

Last of the Christmas ornaments!

This weekend is like the unofficial end of the holiday season.  On Monday, most people go back to the daily routine that is their life. I took down the Christmas ornaments and decorations today which gave me an idea for my photo today.  The last ornament on the tree was a cute little papillon (which just happens to be my favorite dog breed!)  So I took a photo of it - didn't turn out as crisp as I like, but here it is...

Cheating?

Guess I might be cheating but I am posting a pic I took yesterday... I was planning to take an outdoor photo today, but the weather turned really ugly - it's about -20 Celsius, blowing snow &I had a white knuckle drive home from the barn where I had a lesson today.
Anyhow, this photo is my grandson & his favorite of my dogs, Bizzie.

Project 365

Well, at the last minute I decided I should attempt to do the Project 365 this year...  I am a dog mum so most of my photos will likely be of dogs... my dogs... friends dogs... anyone's dogs really.  I am trying to learn to use my camera this year & did receive a new lens for Christmas, so I will see if my skills improve over the year!
